On December the 13 VETPlus had no less than 4 teams of fantastic sporting bodies compete in the Taupo Half Ironman.
It was an awesome day with the Taupo team scorching home first out of the VETPlus teams and 7th overall team, followed by Reporoa, Rural, then SPCA (who were all gun females may I add!). It was a long day for the supporters and competitors travelling from Rotorua having to leave at 4am to get to the start of the swim. Well done to all competitors for sneaking in time and dedication to training, and keeping off the beers the whole week before (Yeah right Karl and Darren!).
And a huge thank you to all our supporters and groupies for cheering us on with your smiling faces and pompoms – seeing those VETPlus utes at the 16km mark of my run definitely lifted our spirits.
Although the teams were fiercely competitive on the race course, we were all great friends again at the end, over venison and ice cold beers at Andrew and Sarah’s. The Taupo team are looking forward to drinking their winnings which of course is to be paid for by the losing team.
