Graduate Opportunities: Large Animal Vets | Taupō & Reporoa

Ready to start your veterinary career in a supportive rural team?

VetPlus is looking for Graduate Vets with a Production Animal focus to join our large animal teams based in Taupō and Reporoa. These are great opportunities for new graduates who are keen to build confidence in large animal practice while being supported by experienced vets, technicians, and a wider team who genuinely want to see you succeed.

You’ll work with proactive dairy and drystock clients across the Central Plateau, with a focus on herd health, animal wellbeing, preventative animal health, and practical on-farm solutions. You’ll gain exposure to a wide range of production animal work, including seasonal dairy work, emergency care, herd health planning, and on-farm advisory support.

These are primarily Production Animal positions, although there is opportunity for involvement in companion animal work for candidates interested in mixed practice exposure.

As a graduate, you won’t be expected to know everything from day one. You’ll have people around you to ask questions, learn from, and work alongside as you develop your clinical skills and confidence on farm. At VetPlus, we believe in tackling the big jobs together and supporting each other across the whole practice area.

We’re proud to have three BESTPRACTICE accredited clinics across the Central Plateau, in Rotorua, Reporoa and Taupō. Our values, Care, Excellence, Loyalty, Integrity, Leadership and Enjoyment, guide how we work with our clients, their animals, and each other.

Our team is professional, capable, and down-to-earth, with a genuine focus on making a meaningful difference for farming clients, their animals, and our rural communities. Working across our three clinics means you’ll be part of a wider network of vets and technicians, helping make larger jobs smoother and ensuring support is never far away.

These roles are based from our Taupō and Reporoa clinics. The Taupō role is ideally suited to someone living in or around Taupō, while the Reporoa role would suit someone based locally in Reporoa or nearby in Rotorua. Either way, you’ll be part of the Central Plateau lifestyle, with lakes, mountains, walking and biking trails, rural communities, cafés, schools, and outdoor adventure all close by, a fantastic place to start your veterinary career.

If you’re looking for a supported start to your large animal veterinary career, we’d love to hear from you.
