An opportunity has arisen in our BESTPRACTICE accredited companion animal clinic in stunning Taupō, and we’re looking for an experienced companion animal veterinarian to join us for a summer locum role from November 2026 to February 2027. The exact dates may be flexible depending on the right candidate.

Our refurbished Taupō clinic offers a modern, well-equipped space for thorough case workups. Our companion animal vets share medical and surgical rotations.

Lake swims, mountain biking, walking tracks, cafés, restaurants, boating, fishing, weekend markets, thermal pools, nearby national parks and long summer evenings, Taupō is an amazing place to be over this time of year. Whether you’re outdoorsy, sporty, social, relaxed, adventurous, or just keen to spend a few months somewhere beautiful, summer in Taupō is hard to beat.
The Role:
- Companion animal veterinarian / veterinary surgeon
- Fixed-term summer locum role
- November 2026 to February 2027, with some flexibility around dates
- Based in Taupō, New Zealand
- 3, 4 or 5 days per week, depending on your preference and availability
- Shared Saturday morning clinic roster
- Shared after-hours roster, approximately 1 in 6
- Competitive locum package, including after-hours allowances
- Well-supported team environment with experienced vets, nurses and customer service staff
